In my words
I was bitten by the magic bug at the age of 12, after seeing one of Doug Henning's television specials. From that moment on, I began to read books on magic in the school library and was determined to learn that crazy linking ring trick. I then discovered that there was a Fun/Magic shop in town called Archies Fun Shop, where magicians purchased tricks, WOW, could there be such a place? But wait there is more! So I took my first journey on the city bus across town to a place that would change my life forever. I walked in to the magic shop and behind the counter, not just magic, someone larger than life, full of comedic talent and the brotherhood to teach anyone willing to learn, a classmate named David Jones from my Jr.High School, who was working as the magic demonstrator. We were in the same P.E. class and I had no idea that he was a magician, coincidence or fate? David became my mentor and good friend for life.
I also discovered that there were magic conventions held all over the world that lectured on the newest tricks and techniques. At these conventions I met a world of underground magicians that have created effects as seen performed by David Copperfield, Seigfreid and Roy, Chris Angel, David Blaine, and Lance Burton just to name a few.
I started out performing at birthday parties and working at The Magic Island in Houston,Texas as the sound and light guy. Professional magic acts came in from all over the world and I was lucky enough to watch these acts weekly, many would consult me in developing my own act, the best part I got paid for it.
Still working at the Magic Island, I started working with another magician named Dan Summers for sponsor shows all over Texas. Job description, you name it, loading, unloading equipment, setting up the sound system, magic illusions, back drops and pyro, stage assisting, selling souvenirs and the best part, was having a cold beer and pizza after the show. How is that for versatility training? What else could I learn? Yes there is more, TIGERS!!! (Check out the tiger photos in the gallery)
So, I Moved to Guam, USA to work with another act named The Majestix (Michael Giles and Stacey Jones) as their right hand man and tiger handler at the Sandcastle Entertainment Center in a Las Vegas style review show. Working in my first review show across the ocean about 7,500 hundred miles away from Houston, Texas training to work with exotic tigers in magic, could there be more? Dancers!!! Beautiful dancers from all over the world worked in the review show with extravagant costumes combined with Magic and Illusions featuring exotic tigers in a $50 million theater, what an experience!
My career took off and I started working cruise ships with multi-million dollar showrooms and later moved to Las Vegas to work in a show called The World's Greatest Magic Show.
Years and years of attending magic conventions, lectures, watching instructional videos and working side by side with some of the biggest stars in magic has helped me develop the professional act I have today.
My favorite place to perform is the famed Magic Castle in Hollywood, CA. There is no place like it in the world! If you ever get a chance to visit the Magic Castle you will not regret it and just maybe, I will see you there!!!
